HOME OF THE Chicago POLLEN COUNT
Asthma and Allergy Center of Chicago provides the official Chicago area pollen and mold readings for other agencies and the media. These reports are updated Monday thru Friday by 7:30 a.m. from April until October. Pollen samples are gathered early in the morning from the roof of the Gottlieb Professional Building. Pollen grains and spores are collected from a cubic meter sample of air and counted under a microscope. Dr. Leija started these allergy counts more than 20 years ago and passed the torch to Dr. Shah in 2019.
Karen Cantaloupo and Dr. Shah work together to provide the Chicagoland area with a certified, official count that helps allergy sufferers understand their symptoms.
